What is MODINCA?

MODINCA is a trademarked acronym for MODern INtellectual Cultured Aesthetes. We are a dating community for adults looking for a like-minded partner with whom to share a culturally enriching and/or intellectually stimulating lifestyle.

Who can use MODINCA?

Any responsible adult, 18 years and older, willing to abide by the website’s Terms of Service may participate in the MODINCA community. MODINCA is open to people from all walks of life.

How much does it cost to use MODINCA?

MODINCA’s Premium membership gives you the ability to contact and communicate with all the interesting users in our community. MODINCA is currently a FREE site/app. We plan to charge nominal fees for Premium membership subscriptions in the future; all the Premium features and contents will be FREE until such time. Once MODINCA converts to a paid site/app, standard (free) users will no longer be able to communicate with other users, though they will still be able to browse freely. MODINCA membership will be recurring and auto-renewed at end of each subscription period. Please note that your subscription will be non-refundable, so make sure the subscription term you choose is right for you before purchase.

How do I communicate with other users?

Only premium members are able to communicate with one another. At this point, you can communicate with any compatible users as everyone is a premium member. Once MODINCA converts to a paying service, only the members with a current premium subscription will be able to make a connection with one another via MODINCA’s messaging features.

Communication between premium members functions practically the same manner between the website and mobile app, with slightly different mechanics.

From the MODINCA website: First, click the person’s avatar photo to be taken to their profile page. From there, click the "CHAT NOW" button profile page.

From the MODINCA app: First, click the person’s avatar photo to be taken to their profile page. From there, click on the conversation bubble icon located in the bottom right-hand corner of your screen. This will immediately open the Instant Chat page.

How do I know if someone has sent me a message?

From the MODINCA website: You will see a notification on the "Messages" button on the top right corner of your screen.

From the MODINCA app: The conversation bubble icon at the top right-hand corner on your dashboard will display a red dot. This red dot means there is a message waiting for you! To see your message, simply select the conversation bubble. The message screen will show who contacted you and their message. A red dot means you have a new message. Clicking on the message will open the Instant Chat feature.

For both the website and mobile app, you will also receive an email notification in the inbox of the email address you provided upon registration as long as you have an appropriate email notification setting. You can find the email notification page via the pull-down menu from your username button on the top right corner.

What does the like button do?

Clicking the like button on another user’s profile page (yellow button on the website and red heart icon on the mobile app) will let that person know that you are interested in taking the next step of communicating/meeting that person, and he/she will receive a notification (via email and notification alert on website/mobile app). By the same token, you will receive a notification when someone has “liked” you.

What happens when two people “liked” each other?

If you send someone a “like” and that person send you a “like” in return (or vice versa), “It’s a Match” window will open up, alerting you that there is a mutual interest. And as a reminder, the mutual matches will be retained on the “New Matches and New Messages” page on the mobile app and on the dashboard of the website.

What if I do not wish to receive Instant Chat requests from other members?

On the MODINCA website, please go to the "Privacy" page and change the "Who can invite me to chat" setting to "Only me". The "Privacy" page is found in the pull-down menu under your username button on the top right corner of the screen.

How is percent compatibility calculated?

Percent compatibility is calculated based on your matching preferences. The following categories are considered – gender, age, types of relationship, height, body types, ethnicities, location, children, education, employment, occupation, religion/spirituality, political leaning, social setting, smoking, drinking, marijuana use, and MODINCA interests. 100% compatibility means that there is at least one match from each of the categories.

Why am I receiving messages from people whose profiles do not match well with my preferences?

Though MODINCA’s matchmaking algorithm tries to minimize such instances, this can occasionally happen because some people open up their search preferences beyond their own profile attributes. You can certainly block unwanted users at your discretion.

Can I cancel my subscription?

Is my personal information safe?

We take information security very seriously. It maintains up-to-date security hosting via Blue-Host and CloudFlare services. Your personal and financial information will be protected with your own personal password known only to you.

How do I hide my profile?

Unfortunately, we do not yet offer this feature.  We plan to incorporate this feature into our next release.

How do I hide my presence on the site from other members?

How do I delete my profile?

The only way to delete your profile is to permanently cancel your account, in which case you will no longer be able to access your account.

On the MODINCA website, this can be accomplished on the “Profile Edit” page. You can get there via the pull-down menu from your username button on the top right corner. The “Delete Profile” button is located at the bottom of the page.

On the MODINCA mobile app, this can be accomplished on the “Settings” page. You can get there by clicking on the red “Settings” button on your dashboard.

We would like to caution you again that this is a permanent action; your account will be permanently deleted from the MODINCA website.

How come I cannot log into my new account?

This is usually because the account isn't activated yet. One of the steps that we take to make sure it is full of real, authentic people is via email verification. After creating a new profile, a verification email will be sent to you. Follow those instruction. Make sure to check your spam folder; sometimes messages end up there.

How come I cannot login anymore?

If you have successfully logged in at least once in the past, first, please make sure you are spelling your password correctly. If that does not work, try resetting the password by clicking on the “Forgot Password” link on the sign-in page or by entering your email here. If you've just registered with your email address and cannot log in, please check your email for the account activation link.

Where is my activation email?

Make sure to check your spam folder; sometimes messages end up there. If you still cannot find it, get in touch with us and we can activate your account for you. Contact us.

How do I change my email address?

You can change your username through the “Edit Profile” page on the MODINCA mobile app (button on your dashboard) or the “Profile Edit” page on the MODINCA website (pull-down menu from your username button on the top right corner).

How do I change my password?

You can change your password ONLY through the MODINCA website, not through the mobile app. Once you log in to the MODINCA website, go to the “Profile Edit” page. You can get there via the pull-down menu from your username button on the top right corner. Then click on the “Change Password” button at the top of the page.

How many photos can I upload?

On the MODINCA mobile app, you can directly upload up to 15 photos. There are no albums to create.

On the MODINCA website, you can upload up to 15 photos by creating photo albums. Each album can hold up to ten photos. So, you can have anywhere from one album to 15 albums depending on the number of photos you assign to each album.

Is there a size limit to uploading image files?

Yes. Image file size cannot exceed 2Mb.

How do I create a profile photo gallery?

The photo gallery feature is available only on the MODINCA website, not on the MODINCA mobile app. All you have to do is to upload seven or more photos (either to the website or the app) and your personal profile photo gallery will automatically be created.

Do you offer a trial premium membership?

Yes, we will be offering a 7-day trial premium membership once we convert to a paid service.

How do I report bad behavior or possible fake profiles?

We are concerned about maintaining community of real caring people. Despite our constant monitoring, and the filters and verifications to make sure everyone on MODINCA is an authentic human, sometimes very motivated individuals can slip through the cracks. If you have come across someone misbehaving, or possibly making false profile information or sending spam, please report them to us by flagging their profile. On the MODINCA website, you can find the “Flag” function under the “More” tab located to the right of their profile photo. On the MODINCA mobile app, you can find the “Flag profile” function under the three dot menu bar just below the profile photo. You may also let us know via contact us. Please include their username (profile name) along with detailed information about the issue.

What does bookmarking another Member’s profile do?

This action saves their profile so that you can find them easily on your dashboard.

From the MODINCA website: Simply click on the “bookmark” tab located at the top of the member’s profile page.

From the MODINCA app: Simply click on the blue bookmark icon located in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen while on the member’s profile page.

Why can't I find any local matches?

MODINCA is a new and exciting growing community of members. It is centered in Colorado but the circle is continually growing. It is wonderful to have you to be part of this fast-growing community. Unfortunately, the nature of building a site like this requires time to establish a larger membership base so you can have a great experience. Upon joining as a free member, feel free to spend as much time browsing as possible until you feel that there are enough members in your area to provide you with plenty of matches. One of the fastest ways to help us grow is to share MODINCA with your friends via email, social media, etc. Please feel free to invite your singles friends to “like” our Facebook page.
